The islands off Thailand' west coast in the Andaman Sea and Indian Ocean offer the country's best saltwater fishing. Below are some of the highlights.

Phuket

Thailand's biggest island, and a firm favourite for those in search of a beach holiday. Fishing charters can easily be arranged from here to most of the destinations below.

There's good fishing around Phuket itself. Target species include Black Marlin, Yellowfin Tuna and sharks.

Andaman Islands

About 660 kilometres west of Phuket, under Indian administration. Excellent fishing for the adventurous angler for Dogtooth Tuna, Wahoo, King Mackerel, Giant Trevally, Black Marlin, Blue Marlin, Sailfish, Yellowfin Tuna and 10 species of shark.

Chain of islands about 90 kilometres northwest of Phuket. Lure or live bait fishing for Wahoo, King Mackerel, Barracuda, Giant Trevally, Blue Finned Trevally, Golden Trevally, Dorado, Queenfish, Rainbow Runner, Cobia, Tuna and Marlin.

Racha Noi / Racha Yai

Small islands offering great opportunities for Mackerel, Tuna, Trvally, Silfish, Marlin, Wahoo and Dorado fishing.

Koh Rock (Longnose Island)

About 80 kilometres south of Phuket, and one of the top trolling / fly fishing spots for Sailfish. Good Mackerel, Tuna, Barracuda and Trevally fishing when the Sailfish aren't biting.
